MailGate Support Issues Q. Does MailGate run on Windows Vista? A. MailGate can run on Windows Vista; however, due to Vista's changes in the installation and running of services, MailGate is unable to run as a Windows service. You will need to log onto Windows and run the MailGate application in order to access its services, rather than having MailGate running as a service without being required to log on. Also, the Remote Admin service is not operational. Disabling UAC To get MailGate running you will need to disable UAC (User Account Control), which removes the necessity of confirming whether a particular application should be allowed administrator rights. Note: Disabling UAC causes your system to become less secure.
