MailGate Support Issues
Q. How can I prevent auto-replies looping?
A. Auto replies can be set against any mailbox in MailGate. When using this feature, if the auto-reply message is bounced back for some reason, a loop can occur. This can be prevented by disabling the auto-reply from within the mailbox, and creating an auto-reply rule in the Mail Manager Extension:
- Double-click on the Mail Manager Extension (under the 'Extensions' branch on the main MailGate window).
- Click the 'Add' button.
- In the 'Name' field, type 'Auto Reply for <e-mail address>'.
- In the 'Recipient' field, type in the e-mail address of the user the auto-reply is for.
- In the 'Field' field, type in 'Subject'.
- Set the drop-down menu to 'Does not match'.
- In the field beneath, type in '*#AUT*'.
- Set the 'Action #1' drop-down menu to 'Create Message'.
- Click on the 'Settings' button.
- Set the 'Subject' field to '#AUT'.
- Check the 'Make reply' box.
- Click on the 'text/plain' button, and type in the auto reply message.
- Click OK.
- Click OK to apply the new rule.
